On March 10, 2010, at 5:45pm, the U.S. Azeris Network (USAN), will hold a one-of-a-kind seminar at the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, where the Republic of Azerbaijan's Consul has kindly accepted to answer questions from the Azerbaijani-American community, the Turkish-American community, and our friends, about the possibility and implications of dual (double) citizenship, bilateral investment treaty, repatriation of profits, double taxation, how to open a new small business in Azerbaijan, and export/import procedures. USAN will share the official U.S. position on the subject of dual (double) citizenship. This will be a jam-packed information session with never-before articulated information shared with the participants - you don't want to miss it! This will clarify all the questions and concerns that the Azerbaijani-Americans have been sharing with USAN over the past years.
Additionally, for the first time for our Los Angeles diaspora, a special presentation will be made by the U.S. Census Bureau official, followed by a Question and Answer session. The 2010 census will begin on April 1, 2010, and is of utmost importance for all Azerbaijani-Americans, and larger Turkic-American community, for reasons ranging from distribution of grants, to improvement of public and community services. Basically, if Azerbaijani-Americans want better schools, hospitals, roads, more police and fire stations, more scholarships for universities, they should attend the session. Note that the census counts everybody irrespective of their citizenship and type of visa.
Back on September 17, 2009, USAN, and its sister organization USTN, became the first-ever Azerbaijani-American and Turkic-American organizations that have officially partnered with the United States Census Bureau, thus ensuring that each of our members, as well as Azerbaijani-American and Turkic-American residents understand the importance of participating in the 2010 Census. We are very excited to partner with the Census Bureau on this important initiative and committed to helping increase overall participation in 2010. As part of this vital initiative we will place all relevant materials at a dedicated website, http://census2010.usazeris.org/ where all our members and friends will be able to stay updated and informed about the upcoming census. We call on your enthusiastic support and dedication for this and other initiatives and projects of the U.S. Azeris Network (USAN).
